And honestly, we’re not sure if we could go back to living in one now.Each of us grew up in a different village, with different accents and customs, but we share the same root: that of authenticity, simplicity, and things that don’t need filters to be valuable.Today, we live in cities where everything moves faster, where rent is frightening, and where the city centre can overwhelm just as much as it enchants. But we’ve never lost that place that always waits for us, the one we can always return to.Recently, we went back to Ubrique. We’re not from there, but something made us choose it as the place where Dueñas could grow.
We returned with doubts, sketches, prototypes, and a lot of hope. And we came back with our batteries recharged and one certainty: we want to do things right.

Ubrique is much more than a white village among mountains.It is a place where craftsmanship is in the air, where leather is worked with respect, with hands that have spent generations shaping, sewing, cutting.There, time has a different rhythm, and you can see that in how objects are created: nothing is urgent, everything is precise.
The creative process in Ubrique is almost a ritual.First, the leather is chosen: it is touched, it is smelled. Not all are suitable for the same purpose.
Then come the first tests, the details. Each bag has its own rhythm.And even though we arrive with a clear aesthetic, it is there where we give soul to what was just form.
We don’t seek fast fashion. We don’t design for haste.We create to last, to accompany, to tell a story.And that story is also ours.We like oats in the morning, walking through the city with headphones as if we were invisible. Other times, we feel just the opposite.We are stubborn, dreamers, and hardworking.We believe in walking that fine line between fulfilling our duties and fighting for a project that represents us.Dueñas was born from that: working with intention, with purpose.
Often, those who stayed in their villages have been more forward-thinking than those of us who left. Because leaving broadens your mind, yes.But returning reminds you who you are.
Being from a village means having guaranteed support.Knowing that if everything falls apart, there is always a bar with plastic chairs where no one cares about what you’ve achieved, only how you are.And that changes everything.In Ubrique there are no endless production chains.There are people. Artisans who correct mistakes with their hands.
Workshops where each piece is made with time.Where what matters is not improvised.There we learned to listen to the process.Not to force. To understand leather as a living material.
To trust that if something takes time, it’s because it’s worth it.Ubrique was, for us, a small emotional healing.A pause to start again.A place that showed us that you can still live slowly, work well, and create with soul.
