Today we begin a new chapter in this blog. A chapter where food will be the common thread to talk about places that are part of our story: Málaga, Granada, Zaragoza, Madrid, Barcelona… Cities we haven’t just visited, but truly lived. Places we know intimately and want to share with you from an honest and personal perspective.
We often talk about our roots, but rarely do we stop to tell their stories. And the time has come to do just that. We want to show you a piece of our homelands not just through flavors, but also through the people, the places, and the moments that have shaped us.
Our parents weren’t bar-goers, but they always kept fridges full of local products. One of us grew up among fresh fruits and vegetables; the other had a father who worked as a vet and was relocated to Calanda. He always brought his most treasured possession: peaches. Yes, the famous Calanda peaches, carefully bagged one by one, treated like seasonal gems.
Curiously, despite the distance, that peach united us. One of our fathers runs a greengrocer’s in a Málaga neighborhood, Portada Alta, where —among so many varieties— the Calanda peach always stood out. It was sold like a treasure, with the dignity of someone who knows it’s not just fruit: it’s identity, culture, memory.
We want to tell you about charming places. Restaurants that haven’t forgotten their roots but have elevated them. Places that know good food starts with thoughtful sourcing. Because that makes a difference — you can feel it, you can live it. A tomato that smells like a garden. A peach that tastes like childhood. Little luxuries that, when you can afford them, reconnect you with the essential.
And today, we want to dedicate this beginning to Frutería Portada.
Their selection is as broad as it is delicious, but what keeps us coming back is that honest flavor, hard to put into words, that embraces you from the first bite. And the service… that warm, close attention that makes you feel at home. It’s one of those places that nourish more than your body — they nourish your soul. We always recommend it, because the good, the authentic, deserves to be shared.
With this blog, we want to open a window to everything that inspires us: places, dishes, people, moments. Hidden corners that may not appear in tourist guides, but invite us to pause, to savor, to feel.
Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Málaga, London… They’re not just dots on a map. They’re chapters of our lives. Cities that have transformed us, pushed us to evolve, left their mark on us. In each, we’ve lived something important… and each has given us something valuable.
Because, in the end, this is about sharing. What moves us. What we fall in love with. What makes us feel alive.
And this is just the beginning.
Welcome to an adventure that will be not only gastronomic, but also emotional, sensory, and deeply personal.
